Visit By Belgian State Delegation to HKU

Belgian State Delegation Met with SMEs at HKU.

The Belgian State Delegation in Turkey, in order to examine the Financial Assistance Program for Refugees (FRIT) program in Turkey, visited Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) and received information about the ENHANCER Project.

A presentation was made to Belgian State Secretary for Migration and Asylum Sammy Mahdi, Belgian Ambassador to Ankara Paul Huynen, Director General of International Protection of the Directorate of Migration Management M. Selami Yazıcı, ICMPD Turkey and the Balkans Regional Coordinator Tamer Kılıç, Silk Road Development Agency General Secretary Burhan Akyılmaz, ICMPD/ENHANCER Grant Management Team Leader M.Çağlar Aydın and the accompanying delegation.

Detailed information was given to the guest delegation about the activities of the ENHANCER Project, which is carried out by HKU in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Technology of TÜRKİYE and Silkroad Development Agency and financed by the International Migration Policy Development Center (ICMPD) with EU funds.

During the visit, the guest delegation met with the project beneficiary SMEs at the Kalyon Garaj Entrepreneurship and Prototyping Center operating within HKU and examined the products to be prototyped in the project “Development of Infrastructure for New Product Development and Establishment of Mentor Bridge”.

Stating that within the scope of the project, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) established by Syrian guests under temporary protection and Turkish entrepreneurs will be supported to develop new products, produce successful prototypes and commercialize their products, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said, “For this purpose, we have further strengthened the infrastructure of our Kalyon Garaj Entrepreneurship and Prototyping Center with new machinery and equipment. With the project call we opened, we received applications for new products to be developed by SMEs and entrepreneurs. Then, we matched these SMEs and entrepreneurs with experienced and competent mentors. With the guidance of our mentors, we will enable SMEs to produce the new products they will develop with the most accurate methods.” The Belgian State Delegation, which listened to the innovative business ideas of SMEs and HKU students who were entitled to be project beneficiaries, toured the HKU campus after the presentations.
